The Challenge

Cambio had been successful in the tender process for a new EPR solution at Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) with Cambio COSMIC being selected to replace the Trusts aging McKesson PAS.

Cambio didn’t have any deployment experience in the UK and had never been through the process of replacing an Acute hospital PAS with their own.

Cloud21 were tasked with designing and implementing the deployment methodology for COSMIC and to deliver the implementation on behalf of Cambio at PAH. The Cloud21 team supported the Cambio team to deploy the COSMIC solution. We used our Cloud21 Data Service Tool to plan and deliver the migration of data from the old PAS to COSMIC and supported the Cambio team in the development of their data mapping and import routines.

Cloud21 provided an end to end service for Cambio, managing the programme with a team of resources tasked with an end to end delivery. The project was complex, with the trust going live with a range of additional modules including ED, order comms and Maternity.

The culture change associated with implementing a new way of managing delivery required strong stakeholder engagement and communications combined with a careful plan for delivery and risk management.

We worked with both the senior Cambio team and Trust Stakeholders to align the Cambio delivery model with an approach suitable for deployment into an NHS Acute Trust.

Cloud21 provided the leadership and drive to deliver this significant project. Reporting to the UK MD and Cambio CEO we established a good working partnership.

How did our work deliver value to the Client?

The Cloud21 team successfully configured the Cambio COSMIC EPR and deployed it on schedule with no significant issues. This was the outcome required by the Cambio board.

In addition to delivering the COSMIC EPR we also developed a deployment approach and methodology which is now reusable by Cambio at other Trusts.
